Our IV history & culture
Since the founding of the University of Melbourne Baseball Club in 1926, student members have represented the University of Melbourne in week-long intervarsity tournaments held at various times throughout the year. University student baseball players from around the country descend on various towns for multiple games per day over one intense week of competition.
In 1987, all sports were brought together for the first Australian University Games. More recently it has rebranded as UniNationals, but the off-field camaraderie of UniMelb baseball remains as strong as ever.
On the field the University has been very successful in these competitions, winning gold most recently in 2002, 2008, 2012-13 and 2016. There is also a strong network among past IV players, both socially and in some cases professionally, such is the trust and bond built among our players.
