Fabulous! We’d love to have you join us. Our club is open to players of all experience levels, fitness backgrounds, and familiarity with baseball. The simplest way to get started is to attend one of our training sessions and meet the team.
If you’d prefer to speak with someone beforehand, you’re welcome to contact us through the new player enquiry form. A club representative will follow up and help guide you through the next steps.
That’s absolutely no problem! Many of our players first joined the club with little or no baseball experience. With multiple teams across different levels of the league, we’re able to support players of all skill levels and backgrounds.
Our coaches will guide you through the fundamentals, and our playing group is known for being supportive, encouraging, and always happy to help new players find their feet.
If you’ve played winter baseball for another club in the last 4 years, we will need to clear you to play for Melbourne Uni Baseball Club. Please complete the clearance form and email it to uombaseball@gmail.com.
No, we don’t run try‑outs at Melbourne University Baseball Club. We have a team for everyone! Everybody is welcome to join and get involved, regardless of experience or skill level.
During the season, training is held at University Oval on Wednesday evenings from 5-8.30pm. We also have an optional hitting training session on Thursday nights from 5-7pm. Please keep an eye out on the Facebook or Whatsapp group for training updates.

There are two components of the fees required for you to take the field: Baseball Victoria registration and club fees.
Baseball Victoria registration
This is your compulsory annual registration with Baseball Victoria. It covers your insurance, your eligibility to play in sanctioned competitions, and the administrative costs of the state governing body. Every player in the Melbourne Winter Baseball League must hold a current BV registration before taking the field.
Club fees
These are the fees paid directly to Melbourne University Baseball Club. They help cover the running of the club — things like equipment, ground hire, uniforms, umpires, and general operational costs. Club fees ensure we can provide a safe, well‑resourced, and enjoyable environment for all players.
We understand that some players may need support to meet the upfront fee, especially new players that must also invest in uniforms and equipment. Our goal is to get players onto the field, and we are committed to making this happen.
- Payment plans: If paying your fees in one hit is an issue for you, please contact us at uombaseball.treasurer@gmail.com to discuss a payment plan.
- Sport Access Scholarship: Melbourne University Sport proudly offers students facing financial hardship with a complimentary fitness membership and a subsidy towards joining a Sport Club or Intervarsity representation. Learn more about the Sports Access Scholarship.
While many of our members are students or alumni, you don’t need any connection to the University to join us. Whether you’re picking up a glove for the first time or you’ve been playing for years, there’s a place for you here.
